Isn't it crazy how a place thousands miles from where you grew up can feel more like home than any childhood bedroom or local hangout.
It's like you step into this familiar distant land and your heart says "Ah yes, I am home." As you take a breath of this place the cool seaside air fills your lungs with a wholeness you didn't realize you had been longing for. For me this place is California—specifically the Huntington Beach area. I guess it makes sense considering how many summers I spent there as a child. Now whenever I return, I come home. I'm not sure if it's just the beach town atmosphere that draws me in, or something more, but this is my place. My heart feels more whole here than the cold Pennsylvania mountains where I grew up. I constantly find myself dreaming up scenarios where I end up living here one day. I've always felt connected to the ocean. As the moon controls the tides, there's a similar gravitational pull form the ocean to my heart. When I stand on the shore looking out to the horizon everything falls into perspective. It's like the waves whisper "Everything is going to be okay." I don't know if I will ever live in California but I think I will end up somewhere near the water, somehow, someway, it always seems to pull me in.

Hi there! Welcome to my blog.
I decided to start blogging as a way to share my adventures with everyone back home and meet some new friends along the way. This April I'm moving to Vanuatu to serve in the Peace Corps. (More info about that coming soon!) I want to document my crazy move across the globe, my life there, and what I learn along the way. I also just bought a flashy new camera to start taking some better photos and videos. (Check out my Instagram here) I have a list of things I want to blog about scribbled in the back of my journal but if there's anything in particular you're looking for let me know! I'm open to writing about anything and everything. As your about to see as I dive deeper into the world of blogging I'm pretty much an open book here to share my experiences with you and connect with the beautiful people of the internet. |
